Welcome to Kauri Room 4's Blog! We are a class of year 3 and 4 children from Weedons School in Christchurch, New Zealand. The purpose of this blog is to share our learning journey with our family and friends. This year our classroom has a safari theme and we have continued this on our blog.

Science
In the lead up to Science Alive's visit to Room 4 we have been read the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears and yesterday we made some porridge. We measured the temperature of the porridge at set intervals of time and talked about what temperatures were hot, warm and cold. This lead to a discussion about how long the bears should have walked in the woods for while waiting for their porridge to cool. Check out the booklet we are each keeping our experiment notes in below.
How to talks
To support our procedural writing unit the children of Room 4 have been invited to present a how to talk to the class. We are going to video these, so watch this space...

Wally Bear Badge Making
As we have been following Wally's travels on his blog we have noticed that he has made a lot of new friends!
We wanted Wally to have a small gift to give these friends when he had to say farewell. We wanted this gift to remind Wally's new friends of where he was from, New Zealand. We had been looking at kowhaiwhai patterns in art and tried to use these in our badge designs. Check them out!
